How To Love Your Skin Better

This week is one of our favourite times of the year: Valentines Day. We love the outpouring of love that fills the streets this week, the numerous bouquets of flowers, boxes of chocolates, and generally loved up couples that make us believe in love all over again.

But this year we wanted to try something different. After you’ve shared some love with the significant people in your life, why not share a little love with yourself, and your skin.

Here are our tips on how to love your skin better this Valentines Day.

Accept It

We all have aspects of our skin that we don’t like. Maybe it’s inconsistent skin tone, maybe its issues with dry skin, oily skin or a skin condition. Maybe we just aren’t happy with it in general. But, accepting your skin is the first step in learning to love it. Instead of thinking of your skin like a beauty item, think of all the benefits that it gives you, all the positives. It is true what they say: you have to love the skin you’re in.

Protect It

If you want your skin to serve you well, look good and feel good, you have to protect it. This means giving it a regular coat of sunscreen, even if you aren’t sure you’re going to be out in the sun. It means guarding against dry skin with daily moisturising, even on the days when there’s so much more to do. And it means recognising that you might need your skin, but it needs you too.

Look Out For It

When your skin has a problem, it shows right there on the surface, which means there’s no reason for you to miss the signs. You need to know your skin, and check it regularly for things that seem out of place. This might just be a pesky skin condition that needs treatment, but it could also be the beginnings of skin cancer. Do yourself, and your skin, a favour and get to know your moles and blemishes, and be aware if something changes, or something new appears.

Nourish It

Your skin loves you, but you need to love it back. This means drinking between 1.6 and 2 litres of water every single day, and consuming a balanced diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. The combination of the water and the vitamin packed produce allows your skin to be its best, which translates into glowing, healthy skin you’re going to love every single day.

Treat It

It is impossible to imagine where you would be without your skin, so why not treat it every now and again? Give your skin some pampering with a regular at home face mask, skin scrub or other DIY beauty treatment, and follow it up with some loving from one of Scentrelle’s oils. Sometimes, a little bit of love can really give your skin a lift, and that carries through to you. After all, you both deserve it!
